Mets catcher activated from injured list

James McCann is back.

The New York Mets catcher returned from the injured list on Thursday. He will start against the Atlanta Braves.

Via a tweet from’s Anthony DiComo:

As expected, the Mets have activated James McCann from the injured list and optioned Patrick Mazeika back to Syracuse. McCann is slated to be in the lineup tonight.

On July 10th, McCann was placed 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. He was also sidelined for most of May and June for surgery on his wrist.

In 30 games this season, McCann is hitting .183 with two homers and 11 RBI.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal tweeted Tuesday:

SNY’s Andy Martino tweeted prior to the deadline on Tuesday:

Price on Willson Contreras would have to come down “a lot” for Mets to get him before 6, per source. Mets and Cubs talked have never really ignited
