Browns vs. Jets best bets: Bet on Garrett to record a sack, unders for Flacco and Hall

Jets RB Michael Carter over 2.5 receptions (-155 or better)

Carter and fellow RB Breece Hall were targeted nine times apiece in the opener with the former finishing with a team-leading seven receptions for 40 yards.

Count on Flacco having to check down early and often with Myles Garrett and the Browns’ pass rush bearing down. Carter figures to be the primary beneficiary of those short-area throws.

Jets RB Breece Hall under 48.5 rushing yards (-115 or better)

Hall, the rookie from Iowa State, caught six of his nine targets for 39 yards and had six rushing attempts — to Carter’s team-leading 10 — for 23 yards in Week 1.

The rookie also coughed up a costly fourth-quarter fumble at the Baltimore 15-yard line, and that likely will keep Hall second in the RB pecking order behind Carter.

In any case, the Browns have an upper-echelon run defense which limited Christian McCaffrey and Carolina Panthers to 54 yards on 19 attempts in Week 1. That adds up to a clear under call on Hall’s rushing prop.

Browns DE Myles Garrett over 0.25 sacks (-185 or better)

The All-Pro game-wrecker opened the season with a pair of sacks in Carolina, giving him 60.5 in 69 career contests.

The Jets will certainly game plan around Garrett, but there’s only so much they can do with a banged-up offensive line and the likelihood they’ll be playing from behind most of the game.

Laying -185 isn’t always recommended, but this still looks to be a decent value to just grab half a sack.

Jets QB Joe Flacco under 35.5 passing attempts (-115 or better)

Flacco attempted 59 passes — six more than any other quarterback in Week 1 — in Sunday’s 24-9 opening loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

That also was the third-highest total among the veteran’s 177 career starts.

And while it’s more than reasonable to think Flacco could attempt 23 fewer passes Sunday and still go over the posted total, it’s not hard to envision the Jets’ offense struggling a bit.

Depending on how the game goes, it’s not out of the question for Robert Saleh to turn to backup Mike White for a spark at some point in the game. With that possibility, we’re going under on the Flacco props in Week 2.

SGP: Browns ML and under 41.5 (+115 or better)

Cleveland QB Jacoby Brissett certainly doesn’t scare any defense, but he’ll take care of the ball and feed it to the league’s best 1-2 running back punch in Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt.

Combined with the Jets’ offensive issues and an above-average Browns’ defense, we’ll go with the home team on the moneyline and the under on the slightly adjusted game total for a plus-payoff parlay play.
