A former New Jersey resident who covers the NFL as a TV sideline reporter is suing the nation’s leading pet retailer, alleging her 12-year-old poodle, Kobe, was asphyxiated by its employees during a routine nail trimming.

A.J. Ross, a former Weehawken resident who now resides in Pittsburgh, filed the civil suit June 23 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, against PetSmart and the two groomers alleged to be responsible for Kobe’s death.
